Discover the hotel
Italian interiors architect Piero Lissoni has transformed a weighty 19th-century building into an uplifting expanse of contemporary design. Urbane, sleekly styled hotel that gives a contemporary makeover to a grand 19th-century building, bang in between Museumplein and Amsterdam’s chicest fashion street, with a heavenly spa and the best lobby-lounge in town. The food is excellent (and healthy, to boot), rooms are spacious, and service engagingly friendly. The Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum and Concertgebouw are to one side, the likes of Cartier, Gucci and Armani on the other, the main canals just 10 minutes’ walk away and the Dam/Centraal Station around 15 minutes by tram. You could hardly ask for more.
